Objectives:

1. Know that WW II began in 1939 after Germany invaded Poland. 2. Choose an aspect of WW II for further study and research presentation.

3. Identify causes and key figures of WW II.

4. Research and take notes on your selected topic.


This week you will begin reading and taking notes about your chosen WW II topic(s).You will need to have several facts from at least three books and/or websites. There are many websites on WWII that are age-appropriate.  Here are a couple that may be helpful:
You will write three paragraphs for your paper. Each paragraph is about one topic, and must include a topic sentence,
interesting facts about your topic, and a clincher sentence.


Science

Objectives:
1. Identify parts of a feather
2. Know the functions of three types of feathers.
3. Identify Texas birds. 

Students will be making a field guide of Texas birds using pictures from the Texas Parks & Wildlife publication.  You can search birds here for coloring:  https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone".  These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here is one. In Christ Alone. Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are beginning our study of Eastern Europe this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents to "America" and US Presidents. For assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names. Due 5/8/23

4. What "evil people" did Hitler think were spreading discontent? What is this hatred called?

5. Why were Hitler's audiences willing to listen to him?
