Note: Start each day with a facts practice warm-up sheet. Do whichever page your child is currently working on. Set the timer for 5 minutes, circle the last problem completed, then complete the rest of the page. Correct and return to school for a completion grade. (Two sheets due per week.)

Spelling

Objective: Learn how to make the plural form of words ending in o.

Please bring your book to class each day.

Grammar

Objective:

1. Identify and classify P3 sentences with a subject noun, verb-transitive, indirect object, and direct object.

Writing 

Objectives:

1. Write a one-paragraph report on Mt. Olympus using two source texts.
2. Take notes from two sources about a WW II topic of your choice.
3. Fuse the notes into one KWO.

History 

Objectives:

1. Know that WW II began in 1939 after Germany invaded Poland. 2. Choose an aspect of WW II for further study and research presentation.

3. Identify causes and key figures of WW II.

4. Research and take notes on your selected topic.


Note:This week you will begin reading and taking notes about your chosen WW II topic(s).You will need to have several facts from at least three books and/or websites. 
Please do not delay in finding sources so you don't fall behind on weekly assignments.There are many websites on WWII that are age-appropriate.  Here are a couple that may be helpful:

Science

Objectives:
1. Identify parts of a feather
2. Know the functions of three types of feathers.
3. Identify Texas birds. 


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone".  These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here is one. In Christ Alone. Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are completing our study of Southern Europe this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided. Sheppard's software practice game: Western Europe and Central Europe.

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents to "America" and US PresidentsFor assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names. Due 5/6

1. Why was Germany poor, even before the Great Depression?

2. List two ways in which Germany became poorer after the stock market crash.

3. Why did Hitler think Germany could spread its culture across other countries?

4. What "evil people" did Hitler think were spreading discontent? What is this hatred called?

5. Why were Hitler's audiences willing to listen to him?


Objectives:

1. Study civil wars in China that eventually led to Mao's Communist rule.

2. Know that the Stock Market crashed in 1929 leading to the Great Depression. 3. Know that Hitler rose to power in Germany during the Great Depression.
