Math

Begin math with a 5-minute warm-up of Multiplication facts. Strive to memorize multiplication facts ASAP.

Note: Textbook Lesson 6  provides additional practice for your student. The goal is mastery. Some students need more practice, some less. You decide how many problems your student needs to complete based on their mastery of the skills.

Objectives:
1. Find common factors.

2. Practice finding multiples and factors of a given number.
3. Assessment of multiples and factors.
4. Multiply up to a 4-digit number by a one-digit number using mental math.

Spelling
Objective: Spell words ending in tion and alphabetize to the fourth letter

Writing
Objectives:

1. Add a who/which clause in order to dress up a complete sentence.

3. Incorporate new vocabulary and "ly" words into composition. 4. Create a title that repeats or reflects key words from the final sentence

Objectives: 

1. Identify and label prepositions and prepositional phrases.

2. Practice writing sentences containing a subject noun, verb, adjectives, adverbs, and a prepositional phrase.


History

Objectives:  
1. Present findings of a Civil War hero to classmates.
2. Learn about life in America during and after the Civil War. 

Science
Objectives:
1. Describe the stages of complete & incomplete metamorphosis
2. Assess insect anatomy and classification of life.
3. Identify characteristics of Order Lepidoptera.

Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes daily working on the following memory work.
Poetry:  Our first quarter poem is "The Father's Vineyard".  Additional copies here.
Geography:  We are beginning our study of Southern Europe. Sheppards software has helpful computer games for additional practice.
Science: Students are responsible for writing the Classification of Life in the correct order: Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species and labeling insect body parts. There will NOT be a word bank for this assessment.

Math: Begin math with a 5-minute warm-up of subtraction practice using Facts Practice B.  When your child can complete FP-B correctly in 5 min, move on to the multiplication facts practice.

3. Find factors of whole numbers up to 100
4. Identify prime and composite numbers

Spelling
Objective: Review & Assess single letter phonograms
Note: Please administer the Classical Phonics Assessment (in binder) this week and return to school the following Monday.  You only need to do Assessment 1 (Single Letter Phonograms) at this point. Here are instructions for administering the assessment.
Phonogram Drill Form (written portion) - Co-teachers, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app.  Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.
Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker (oral portion) - Show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.

Writing
Objectives: 1. Create a KWO from a source text. 2. Write a rough draft of a fable using KWO and composition checklist. 3. Incorporate a who/which clause into composition. 4. Create a title that repeats or reflects key words from the final sentence

Grammar
Objectives: 
1. Identify parts of speech and use them correctly.
2. Identify predicate words located in the complete subject.
3. Find synonyms and antonyms for a word.
4. Write a practice sentence.

History
Objectives:  
1. Identify factors that led to the War Between the States.
2. Identify key figures of the war.
3. Research a war hero.

Note: Choose a person from the Civil War that you would like to learn more about. Read about their life and write a paragraph describing what that individual did during the Civil War that was notable or commendable. Some possible ideas include various political figures, generals, spies, abolitionists, etc.  There are many more! Students will be sharing this information with classmates on Monday of next week.
