Math
Please continue to complete two Math Fact worksheets per week. Set the timer for 5 min and circle the last problem your child completes. Then complete the page, correct, and return to school for recording.

Objectives:

1. Assess decimal material covered in Ch 12: tenths, hundredths, expressed as fractions, comparing & ordering, rounding

2. Add and subtract decimals with tenths using mental math.

3. Add decimals to the tenths place with regrouping.

4. Subtract decimals to the tenths place.

5. Add decimals to the hundredths place


Spelling

Objectives:

1. Learn to spell words containing the sound of /n/ spelled gn

2. Assess phonograms


Please administer the Classical Phonics Assessment 3 (in binder or on link above) this week and return to school Monday. 

You only need to do Assessment 3.


Here are instructions for administering the assessment.

Phonogram Drill Form (written portion) - Parents, read the sound or sounds on the card. Or if you prefer, you can play the sound on the AAS app.  Your student should then write the corresponding phonogram in the box. Mark any your child missed.

Classical Phonics Assessment Tracker (oral portion) - Show the card to the student. He or she should be able to correctly identify all the sounds associated with that card. Please note any phonograms your child missed on the form.


Reading  

Please bring your book to class each day.

Objectives:

History

Objectives:

1. Complete research on WW II and present findings with a visual and written presentation.

2. Know that after WW II the Jewish people received back their ancient homeland of Israel.


NOTE: Write a paragraph summary in your journal, answering the following questions. Be sure to write complete sentences with proper capitalization, punctuation and nice sentence transitions.

1. When was the last time that Jewish people had lived together in Israel?

2. What is "Zionism"?

3. Why did World War II make many Jewish people feel that they must have their own country?

4. Where did most Zionist leaders want to go? What was it called at the time?

5. What did the United Nations vote to do in 1947 and how did Zionists react?

6. What is May 14, 1948, in Israel?


Science
Objectives:
1. Review flying facts
2. Study the arrangement of feathers on a chicken
3. Identify Texas birds 

Students will be making a field guide of Texas birds using pictures from the Texas Parks & Wildlife publication.  For coloring accuracy, search birds here:  https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone".  These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here is one. In Christ Alone. Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are completing our study of Southern Europe this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided. Sheppard's software practice game: Western Europe and Central Europe. Due 2/19

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents to "America" and US PresidentsFor assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names. Due 5/6
