Note: Our class is studying the time period of 1850-modern day in history. For Historical Dress-Up day, students may dress as any historical figure that lived during that timeframe of history.

1. Write a because clause and add it to a complete sentence.
2. Practice writing topic sentences.

5. Write a paragraph summarizing a reference about swans.
Grammar
Objectives:
1. Review the eight parts of speech
2. Know that homonyms are words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings
3. Use the correct homonym to complete a sentence correctly
History
Objectives:
1. Know that Pedro II made the slave trade illegal, freed slaves, and finally made slavery illegal in Brazil.
2. Learn about creatures living in the Pantanal area of Brazil.
3. Know that Alexander II and Alexander III were unpopular Russian Czars with unlimited power.
4. Know that the Sino Japanese War (Chinese-Japanese) was fought in Korea resulting in Queen Min of Korea being killed and Korea taken over by Japan.
Science
Objective: Identify characteristics of beetles, ladybugs and fireflies.

Memory Work: Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Geography: We are starting our study of Western Europe this week. The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.
