Start your homeschool day with prayer and Bible reading. 

Our virtue this month is Justice. Justice is the cardinal virtue that consists of the constant and firm will to give what is due to God and neighbor. Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness meets the needs of others and avoids harshness.


Math

Note: Start each day with a facts practice warm-up sheet. Do whichever page your child is currently working on. Set the timer for 5 minutes, circle the last problem completed, then complete the rest of the page. Correct and return to school for a completion grade. (Two sheets due per week.)


Objectives:

1. Convert a measurement given as a mixed number to compound units and single units.

2. Express a smaller unit of measurement as a fraction of a larger unit of measurement.

3. Practice concepts learned.


Spelling

Objective: Make the plural form of words ending in f and fe.


Reading  

Please bring your book to class each day.

Objectives: 

1. Increase reading comprehension and fluency.

2. Identify personification in literature

3. Engage in meaningful discussion.

4. Learn about life in Denmark during WW II.

Grammar

Objectives: Make singular and plural nouns possessive


Writing 

Objectives:

1. Take notes from two source texts to make two KWO's and fusing them into one outline.
2. Write a polished paragraph on the constellation Orion from fused KWO.

History 

Objectives: 

1. Examine Stalin's rule in the USSR and identify characteristics of totalitarianism.

2. Examine Mussolini's rule in Italy and identify characteristics of fascism.


Science

1. Learn ways to identify birds through field markings, behavior, habitat, and songs. 
2. Become familiar with using a field guide to identify birds.


Memory Work:  Please spend 15 minutes per day working on the following memory work.

Poetry:  Our third quarter poem is "In Christ Alone".  These lyrics are set to music and you can find numerous renditions online. Here is one. In Christ Alone. Additional copies here.

Geography:  We are continuing our study of Eastern Europe this week.  The song and map can be found here on the main blog curricula/geography page. Students will be responsible for labeling countries on a map. A word bank is provided.

History: We are beginning our memorization of the US Presidents. There are several YouTube video songs to help

with this. Here are two: US Presidents: Washington to Trump and an older version, US Presidents to "America" For assessment, students will write or sing all the presidents' first and last names. Due 5/12
